Fry's Trip October 20th

I have decided to have soup week at our house. I am going to make soup for dinner 3 times this week. I wish it was cold so I didn’t have to sweat while eating the soup but at least it will help us get in the fall mood. I am making my friend Jen B’s Butternut Squash soup, Baked Potato soup and Autumn soup. A lot of my shopping trip this week was to buy the ingredients for the soups and the other things were on sale so I could stock up. Transaction 3 half gallons of milk (Reg. $2.59, Sale $.97 each) 2 jugs Apple Juice (Reg. $3.19, Sale $1.49) 2 pks Cottonelle TP (Reg. $1.39, Sale .99 - .50Q doubled to .99 = FREE) 4 Jiffy Cornbread muffin mixes (Reg. $.59, Sale .39 each) 5 cans beans-Kidney and Pinto (Reg. $.99, Sale .44 each) 6 cans Cream of Mushroom soup (Reg. $1.99, Sale .99 - .25/3 Q tripled to .75/3 = $2.25/3) 2 Bounty Basics Paper Towels (Reg. $1.49, Sale .88 - .25Q tripled to .75 = .13 each) Country Crock Butter (Reg. $3.69, Sale $2.58 - .35Q tripled to $1 = $1.58) 2 bags Fry’s Potato chips (Reg. $2.19, Sale $1.67 each) 6 cans broth- chicken and vegetable (Reg. $.99, Sale .44 each) 2 boxes Barilla pasta (Reg. $1.89, Sale $1.50 - .50/2 Q doubled to $1/2 = $1 box) 3 boxes Ronzoni pasta (Reg. $1.99, Sale $1.79 - $1Q = .79 each) Marjoram (Reg. $2.99, Sale $2.24) Eggs (Reg. $3.19, Sale $2.39) Kosher Salt (Reg. $2.29, Sale $1.99) 2 Hunt’s spaghetti sauce (Reg. $1.69, Sale .77 each) 2 Hunt’s Pudding (Reg. $1.79, Sale .88 - .75/2 Q doubled to $1/2 = .76/2) 2 bags shredded cheese (Reg. $3.29, Sale $1.99 each) 1 block cheese (Reg. $3.29, Sale $1.99) 3 lb bag onions (Reg. $2.49) 2 Red Vine Tomatoes (Reg. $1.85, Sale .62) Celery (Reg. $1.29) Carrots (Reg. $1.29) Butternut Squash (Reg. $10.30) Lettuce (Reg. $1.29) I saved 35 cents from bringing my own bags. I ended up spending $52.81 and saving $52.62 which is a 49% savings. I never realized Butternut Squash was so spendy. I am super excited for the soup so it will be a special treat for us.

  1. I've found that butternut squash at Trader Joe's is a lot cheaper than at Fry's, unless it's on sale.
