Monster Party Centerpiece

While thinking about what type of centerpiece I wanted to make for the birthday party I came across the "monster" words on my Cricut. I chose four words that I liked and cut them out in two different colors and glued them together. I painted some dowel rods black and then made a hole with it in a foam ball. I glued the foam ball into a flower pot to make sure it wouldn't slide around. I glued the monster word to the top of the stick and then stuck it into the hole in the foam ball. I had the centerpieces on my buffet for several days before I decided how to finish it off. I didn't like the look of the foam ball with hot glue all over it.
After trying a few things I decided to use glass gems. I had them from previous projects and I really like the way they turned out.

Beware of monsters...

I always like to have something at the entrance to the party welcoming our guests. Sometimes I use footprints to lead to the party, balloons or even big party robots. This time around I chose a simple sign. I made the monsters and the letters on my Cricut and just glued them on to some foam board I had. I will put a string on it to hang from the door of the party room.

Dr. Seuss's Birthday

Tomorrow is Dr. Seuss's Birthday. My boys love reading Dr. Seuss books so I try to make this a fun day for them. We will be making green eggs and ham for breakfast and a Cat in the Hat pizza for dinner.
Quick and Easy Pizza Crust
1 pkg active dry yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 cup warm water
2 1/2 cup flour
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a medium bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy (about 10 minutes).
2. Stir in flour, salt and oil. Beat until smooth. Let rest for 5 minutes.
3. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a hat shape. Transfer crust to a lightly greased cookie sheet dusted with cornmeal. Spread with desired toppings.
4. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes.
Pizza Sauce
1 small can tomato sauce
1 tsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp rosemary
Combine ingredients and simmer. Spread on dough.
This pizza was a little different. For the white stripes I put the sauce on the bottom with cheese on top. If you want toppings just put it under the cheese. For the red stripes I did it the opposite way, toppings, cheese and sauce on top.
This was a fun pizza to make and my kids enjoyed it. Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!

Monster Cutouts

My youngest son's birthday is less then two weeks away. With two birthdays so close together I tend to focus more on the first one and then rush to finish the second one. My youngest will be 2 years old and we have decided to do a monster theme for his party. While wondering around JoAnn's craft store looking for monster ideas I came across the Cricut Expressions machine. It had a cute little monsters cartridge that goes with it. I have been thinking about getting one for awhile and when I found it for almost half off I jumped on it. I spent two nap times playing around with it and made these monsters. I can't wait to see what I can make next.
