We had a pumpkin left over from Halloween so I decided to try and cook and puree it. It was my first attempt and it turned out really well. So far I have made 4 loaves of Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread, Pumpkin Dinner Rolls and Cinnamon Sugar Pumpkin Seeds. While I was cooking I also made Banana Bread and Oatmeal Cookies with Raisins and Chocolate Chips. I am freezing the breads and rolls so I can pull them out later on.
I was really surprised you couldn't really taste the pumpkin in the dinner rolls. They were really yummy!!!

Fry's Trip November 7th

I had planned to go to the grocery store at 6 AM this morning so I can shop alone. Well, Trevor had other plans. He was up at 5:15 so I went to the store earlier than expected. It is nice being at the store that early when the lights aren’t even on. No one is there to see me talk to myself about prices and coupons. :) This week at Fry’s they are having a sale where if you purchase 10 participating items you get $5 off. This is a limit of 30 items per transaction. I went over my 30 items so had to break my trip up into 2 transactions. CVS Trip November 3rd

Do you ever have those days when your kid is acting so bad that you would pay any amount of money to get out of the store? Well, today was one of those days for me. I went to CVS with a plan all worked out and my coupons ready and then Trevor started acting horrible. Needless to say I paid for my stuff in one big purchase instead of breaking it down into smaller purchases like I normally would have. This caused me to spend a LOT more then I planned. Transaction 2 packages of Pampers diapers (Reg. $11.99, Sale $10 - $2 Q & $1.50 Q = 2/$16.50) 2 Olay Quench Lotion (Reg. $7.49, Sale $6 - $3/2Q = $4.50 each) Pumpkin Erasers (Reg. $1.99, Sale $.99) Pumpkin lights (Reg. $4.99, Sale $2.49) 2 pkgs Orange lights (Reg. $3.99, Sale $1.99) Peeper lights (Reg. $9.99, Sale $4.99) 10 pks Ice Cubes gum (Reg. $1.19, Sale $1 – 5 $1/2Q’s = $5) Crest Pro Whitening toothpaste (Reg. $3.89, Sale $3.49 - .75Q = $2.74) Colgate 360 Sonic toothbrush (Reg. $6.99, Sale $4.99 - $2 CVS Q - $1 Q = $1.99) I used $10 ECB and paid $41.08 OOP. This was a savings of $49.01. I earned back $5 ECB for the gum, $2 ECB for the toothbrush, $5 ECB for the Olay, $3.49 ECB for the toothpaste and $5 for pampers. I think next time I will go on the weekend when I can shop alone. I seem to do a lot better with not spending WAY too much.

Fry's Trip October 30th

One thing I learned when I started using coupons was to get coupons from the blinkies in the store even if you don’t use them right away. About a month ago Farmer Johns hot dogs had a blinkie machine so I grabbed 3 coupons. The price was too high to purchase them that day but I figured they would go on sale eventually. This week they went on sale for a good deal and so I got the hot dogs super cheap. Transaction 9 Pillsbury cinnamon rolls & crescent rolls (Reg. $2.79, Sale 3/$5 - .30Q tripled to .90 = .77 each) 3 Farmer Johns Hot Dogs (Reg. $3.99, Sale $1 - .75Q = .25 each) Honey Nut Cheerios (Reg. $4.39, Sale $3.49 – Free coupon = FREE) Pet Pride Dog Food (Reg. $15.99, Sale $13.99) Luckily we didn’t need anything major other then dog food so the trip was really fast. I spent $22.70 and saved $36.62 which is 62%.

Fry's Trip October 26th

I recently read something about coupons I didn’t know. On coupons that say Do Not Double if the bar code starts with a 9 then the store can’t double them. However, if the bar code starts with a 5 then the store is able to double them. I tried it out with a couple of coupons this morning and it worked. I just love coupons!! Transaction 6 donuts (Reg. $2.99) Sunday paper (Reg. $1.84) 2 ½ gallons of milk (Reg. $2.59, Sale $1.00) Fry’s Apple Juice (Reg. $3.19, Sale $2.17) Kroger Baking Soda (Reg. $1.19, Sale $.99) Tropicana OJ (Reg. $6.29, Sale $3.50 - $1Q = $2.50) Kroger Sour Cream (Reg. $2.29, Sale $1 - $1Q = FREE) 4 Green Giant Veggie (Reg. $2.29, Sale $1 - .25Q tripled to .75 = .25 each) 6 various Quaker Oatmeal (Reg. $4.49, Sale $2 - $3 promo when buy 6 = $9 - $5 in Q’s = $4 for $6) 3 Green Giant Veggie Steamers (Reg. $2.49, Sale $2.29 - $1Q = $1.29 each) Fry’s Pretzels (Reg. $1.99, Sale $1.29) 2 Skippy Peanut Butter (Reg. $3.29 – $3/2 Safeway Q – 1 .60Q doubled to $1 = $1 each) 2 loaves Fry’s Bread (Reg. $1.69, Sale $1) 3 bags Kroger Chocolate Chips (Reg. $2.69, Sale $1) 2 bags Kraft Caramels (Reg. $2.99, Sale $2 - .55Q doubled to $1 = $1 each) Armour Pork Links (Reg. $1.99, Sale $1 - .35Q tripled to $1 = FREE) Kroger Kitchen bags (Reg. $4.99, Sale $4.59) Kroger Marshmallow Cream (Reg. $1.79, Sale $.99) 3 Kroger Cream Cheese (Reg. $1.79, Sale $1) Yoplait Yogurt Drinks (Reg. $3.49, Sale $2.39 - .50Q doubled to $1 = $1.39) Grapes (Reg. $6.88, Sale $2.23) 12 boxes various Hamburger Helper (Reg. $2.39, Sale $1 - .75/3Q doubled to $1/3 = $2/3= $8 total) Celery (Reg. $1.29) Gala Apples (Reg. $1.50, Sale $1.45) Granny Smith Apples (Reg. $1.51, Sale $1.46) Carrots (Reg. $1.29) I was able to stock up on a few items that don’t go on sale all that often so I was pretty happy with my trip. I went at 6 AM so I wasn’t too happy with the early morning hour but it was the only time I could fit it in before it got busy. I used a $10 off when you spend $50 coupon from Safeway and got .35 off for bringing my own bags. Thanks JoEllen for the bags. I have definitely saved some money with them. I have decided to have soup week at our house. I am going to make soup for dinner 3 times this week. Better luck next time.

CVS Trip September 28th

As you can tell from my lack of posts lately I have been slacking on my coupon shopping. I gotta say, when I am nauseous clipping and organizing coupons does not rank high on my list of things I have to do.
