Crafting with your Kids: Cherry Sorting

My oldest boy is off school for a couple more weeks.  I have been working hard to come up with fun crafts and activities to keep him busy.  This is becoming more difficult as the summer break goes on.  Lucky for me, they came up with their own activity.  We have a cherry tree in our back yard that the birds like to eat and then throw the leftovers on the ground.  They decided to pick up all the cherries and put them into bins.
They spent a good 30 minutes picking up the cherries.  It started with each boy having their own bin and trying to get more cherries then the other.
By the end they had all the cherries in the clear bin and the stems in the blue bin.
While this wasn't the most crafty project, it kept them busy and took care of one of the chores that needed to be done. This is a win-win in my book.
